Why IR blaster is essential for your smart home applications?

As the cost of IoT technology is plummeting along with increased penetration of 4G and 5G, home automation devices and appliances are now penetrating the middle-class segment from the high-end customer segment. But as smart home is gradually becoming a reality, home dwellers are grappling with the problems of using multiple remotes to run home appliances (smart tv, thermostat, smart lights, or smart lock). To address this issue, Konnsys, a vertical of SLS, has introduced an IR blaster.

Working on Zigbee 3.0. and IEEE802.15.4 2.4GHz protocols, IR Blaster controls several IR (38KHz) compliant devices (such as AC, TV, Setup Box, Thermo sat, door lock, and smart lights). Serving as a hub, remote controller, pusher, &repeater, IR blaster operates under normal temperature (0-400 c) and relative humidity(below 85) conditions. IR blaster transmits signals at 3600 angles, ensuring full coverage of infrared signals, thus obviating the need for multiple remotes.

IR blaster works on a simple mechanism. Home dwellers can download the apps (android and from Play Store and install them on IR-compatible mobile. It enables home dwellers to manage all IR-compliant home appliances remotely away from home. When a user gives a command from smartphone apps, an IR signal is sent from the smartphone to the cloud. And from the cloud, this signal is sent to an IR-compliant home appliance via a Remote Control Hub. With a built-in timer, sensors (light and temperature) and an IR blaster can run on some pre-defined commands at a particular time. With the ‘Action’ feature in the app, users can modify their commands and set a time for gadgets such as coffee machines, lights, thermostats to run at a pre-defined time of the day.

IR blaster enables users to create and execute scenes in which gadgets (such as TV and AC) can be turned on with the soundbar’s volume 100%  at a specific time with a single tap of a button.

IR blaster can create a workflow to control (turn on/off) multiple appliances based on the sensor values. For example, users can create a workflow that will enable them to turn on the AC and turn it off automatically at a specific temperature (above 26° C) of the living room. Or it can also turn ON, or OFF the LED light at the particular luminosity (day time). It enables a user to control another device by using IR. By supporting 100+ Protocols, IR blaster allows home dwellers to connect IR/Zeegbee compliant devices (500+ brands & 1000+ devices) without compromising the security and privacy of consumer data.

As the IR blaster obviates the need for multiple remotes to control smart home devices and makes home dwellers’ lives more comfortable, it is essential for smart home applications.
